A Quick History of our Companies

Homestead Marketplace is a collection of more than 10 like-minded, community-driven companies owned and operated by Mike and Nickey Eden. It’s a destination that will change the way you look at traditional shopping – a place where families will come together to shop, eat, and play.

We take pride in being a third-generation, family run business in Quinte West since 1957. In its early years, Homestead Marketplace began as only one company called Van Luven Furniture, owned by Terry Eden Sr. and Marjorie Eden. In 1971, the name of the store was changed to Eden’s Furniture. By 1983, Eden’s Furniture became one of the first Leon’s Furniture franchises in the Canadian retailer’s history. Ownership was taken over by Phil Eden in 1977 and in 1987 construction began on the (now current) 80,000 sq. ft. showroom and warehouse at Highway 401 and Glen Miller Road in Trenton.

In 2006, Mike and Nickey Eden began Custom Carts Golf Car and Trailer Supply. Over the course of the next decade, ownership of Leon’s Trenton was taken over by Mike Eden in 2011, and the success of Custom Carts made way for the addition of The Battery Outlet in 2016, and The Factory Store – Canada’s first Husqvarna Outdoor Power Equipment dealership – in 2018. With that, the CC Group of companies was created.

In 2022, the CC Group was rebranded to Homestead Marketplace – a name that better describes the array of products and services offered by the group of companies.

Now, as we look ahead to 2023, Homestead Marketplace will be growing once again. We’ll be adding multiple new Canadian restaurant brands, a franchise in the Canadian automotive industry plus a bunch of other extremely exciting attractions for families!
